PRSSA/Student Resources
Minnesota PRSA is deeply committed to supporting the development of the next generation of public relations professionals.
The chapter's Student Relations committee supports 11 Minnesota PRSA-affiliated Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapters and works with more institutions around the region to help advance public relations and PRSSA at universities. The committee helps these students learn more about the profession and PRSA, as well as prepare for a career in public relations, by providing opportunities for students to interact with professionals, network with potential employers and gain experience in the field.

PR North
PR North is a full-day conference and career fair for students and entry-level professionals interested in communications, marketing and public relations. From hands-on sessions to a keynote speaker to a career fair, PR North prepares young professionals for a career in communications. The event is typically held in February.
Minnesota PRSA Student Fund
The Minnesota PRSA Student Fund was initiated by Minnesota members of the PRSA College of Fellows in 2005 to help defray the registration costs for any PR & Communications student who wishes to attend Minnesota PRSA programs or events. Students can request up to $40 per calendar year by submitting a request to the Student Relations committee. To request a voucher, please submit the Student Fund Request Form at least two weeks prior to the registration deadline for the requested event or program. The Student Relations committee will notify you if your request has been approved.
Awards – Dr. Willard Thompson Scholarship and Student Classics
Minnesota PRSA sponsors an annual scholarship program named after the late Dr. Willard Thompson of the University of Minnesota School of Journalism. The scholarship recognizes students who excel in the study of public relations and communications. Applications are distributed to affiliated PRSSA chapters in the fall, and will also be available online. Awards are given at the annual Minnesota PRSA Classics Award Banquet in the spring. It's a great opportunity for PRSSA members to use their skills and gain exposure to professionals.
Minnesota PRSA also offers the Student Classics awards, offered every winter, where recipients are honored at the Minnesota PRSA Classics Banquet in the spring. Student Classics Awards are an opportunity for students to showcase their best work created in classes, internships and more.
