Netflix’s short-lived series Away, starring Hilary Swank as an astronaut leading an international crew on the first mission to Mars, is – to borrow from an online review – a story of hope, courage, faith, diversity, teamwork and accepting individual differences.
As I step into the role of President of our Minnesota PRSA Chapter this year, this description resonates with me as to why our Chapter is so special.
We are a community of professionals who support and teach each other in pursuit of continuous growth and an avid curiosity for learning.
It’s through that lens that we addressed the COVID-19 pandemic by quickly pivoting to continue offering the highly relevant programs our members are accustomed to, continued stepping up our diversity and inclusion initiatives, receiving first place recognition by PRSA at ICON for our efforts, and building a 2021-2023 Strategic Plan to guide us.
Looking ahead, as we seek to fulfill our updated mission to build mutually beneficial relationships and opportunities among a diverse community of public relations and communications professionals who are committed to effective, ethical and strategic outcomes, we are focusing on four key objectives:
- Cultivating lifelong learning
- Creating vibrant, diverse and welcoming professional communities
- Recognizing capabilities and accomplishments
- Modeling thought leadership, ethics and professional excellence
Minnesota PRSA is only as strong as its members. Thank you for supporting our organization and be sure to save the date and attend one or all of the following fantastic virtual programs coming up:
I’m humbled to lead our Chapter and serve our community this year, and honored to infuse hope and opportunity to our members. If you have any questions, thoughts, comments or would like to chat, my proverbial door is always open.
Cheers to a great year ahead!
Jennifer Bagdade, APR
2021 President, Minnesota PRSA
